Lowestoft Library Writers Group
LOWESTOFT LIBRARY WRITERS' GROUP
Lowestoft Library Writers’ Group meets on the second Tuesday of every month, in the Navigator Room at Lowestoft Library and have been under new organisation since February 2016 with a chair, treasurer/secretary and group members.
The meetings start at 6.45 with registration and getting hot drinks and biscuits/cookies (or whatever treat we bring in for our members each month). Our formal meeting starts at 7pm and finish at 9pm.
We are members of National Association of of Writer's Groups (NAWG) giving members access to all kinds of writing competitions if they wishes to part take.
During our sessions, chaired by Kinsey Foster, one of our experienced literarry members, Rebeccah Giltrow or Jane Martin, leads the session with something educational after which we put in practice what we have learned. This can vary from writing about topics or in styles outside your comfort zone giving you a safe place to practice, get feedback and develop your skills.
Every few months we get authors or publishers from outside to visit our group to share their experiences, knowledge and skills with us.
Any group members can offer to lead the group for a particular session and set a homework task, which can be anything from meeting a drunk on a bus to writing a story using 500 words, all with one syllable! There are also one or two other tasks to be carried out at the meeting.
The main reason for this group’s existence is to encourage others to keep writing, to challenge and stretch the members’ imagination, and, of course, to get published. Also to have lots of fun, drink coffee and eat delicious biscuits or sweets.
If you would like to join this group, or would like more information, just get in contact us on 7432 678838 or email us on
